We all have some files on our PC that need password protection. We want some information to remain private on our system so that no one can access it. Luckily, Windows 10 allows a user to keep some files private by enabling password protection.
You can do this without purchasing additional software. Once you are done creating a folder in Windows 10, below are the steps that you need to follow to protect it.
Below are the steps that you need to follow to lock a folder with a password in Windows 10.
Step 1: Go to the folder and then right-click inside it. Here, you are going to find all the files that you want to protect. The folder you want to hide is on your desktop.
Step 2: Select New by going to the contextual menu.
Step 3: Select Text Document.
Step 4: Press the Enter key. It does not matter what the name of the file is going to be. If you want, you can also delete the file after the lockable folder is made.
Step 5: Open the text file by double-clicking on it.
Step 6: Now, paste all the text in the new document.
Step 7: Replace the password here option with the new password that you want to use to lock the folder.
Step 8: Select Save As.
Step 9: Click on the menu bar of text documents, which is next to Save as type.
Step 10: Choose All Files.
Step 11: Rename the file to FolderLocker.bat.
Step 12: Select Save.
Step 13: Double-click on the folder locker. The locker folder will get generated.
Step 14: Move all the items you want to protect in the folder locker.
Step 15: Open the file of FolderLocker.
Step 16: Type Y on the screen.
Step 17: Press the Enter key and then the window of folder locker will disappear together with the folder locker itself. Now, your items are protected.
Step 18: To unlock your folder, double-click on the folder locker and then it will open up.
Step 19: Enter the password and then hit the Enter key.
So, these are all the steps that you need to follow to lock a folder with a password in Windows 10.
