Window 11 was launched by Microsoft in an event on 24th June. As much as excitement has ensued for the users about the exclusive operating system there has been a lot of confusion as well amidst the speculations. Microsoft has put forth the basic hardware requirements of TPM 2.0 for the new operating system to function even in Windows 10 hardware.
Instead of rushing to buy new hardware, it’s wise to see if there’s any other way possible to make the operating system function. These are a few ways of how you can install Windows 11 without a TPM 2.0 chip on your computer.
Follow the steps listed down below in perfect sequential order to install Windows 11 without a TPM 2.0 chip.
Step 1: Download the Windows 11 beta version on your computer.
Step 2: Restart to try and install it. In case your PC does not have the hardware to support it a pop-up would be displayed stating that your PC can’t run Windows 11.
Step 3: On this screen, click Shift + F10. This will open a command prompt window.
Step 4: Type ‘Regedit and hit Enter.
Step 5: Registry Editor will open and you can in the address bar type HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup. Press Enter.
Step 6: A Setup key will be visible now. Right-click and select New>Key.
Step 7: Name the file as ‘LabConfig’ and hit Enter.
Step 8: Right-click on ‘LabConfig’ and from the drop-down menu choose New>Dword (32-Bit) value.
Step 9: Name it as ‘BypassTPMCheck’ and set the data as 1.
Step 10: Follow the exact same steps for BypassRAMcheck and BypassSecureBootCheck, with the same value as 1.
Step 11: Close this window.
Step 12: Close the command prompter by typing Exit and hitting Enter.
Step 13: You will head back to the pop-up stating that your computer can’t run Windows 11. Click the back button.
Step 14: This will enable you to install Windows 11 as normal.
Although the above step will allow you to install Windows 11 without a TPM 2.0 chip but to enjoy its final version which is stable and fast, it’s better to follow these steps once it becomes available to all operating systems in 2022.
There’s another method of bypassing the TPM requirement that you could follow to install Windows 11 without a TPM 2.0 chip by modifying the ISO file. It will help you upgrade your Windows 11 ISO file.
Step 1: Navigate to Windows 11 ISO image folder and right-click to select the ‘Mount’ option.
Step 2: Select all files in the folder and press Ctrl + C to copy them.
Step 3: In any of your drives, create a new folder and paste the copied files into this folder.
Step 4: Now open the folder where you have saved Windows 10 ISO files. Right-click on the file and from the drop-down options select ‘Mount’. Open the sources folder here.
Step 5: Search for the file named appraiserres.dll, select it, and copy it.
Step 6: Since it’s a zipped folder, extract all the files and copy the file named dll.
Step 7: After copying the dll file, go back to the Windows 11 folder that you must have created in any of the drives. Open the source folder; press Ctrl + V to paste the dll file that you had copied.
Step 8: There will be a prompt asking whether to replace the copied file with the same name. Click on the option to replace the file in the destination.
Step 9: Go back to Windows 11 folder and click on the setup.exe file.
Step 10: Select the options as recommended in the prompts and click on Next.
Step 11: A pop-up will appear to accept the license. Click on Accept.
Step 12: This will start downloading the updates and once complete a prompt will appear for installation. Click on Install.
Step 13: The installation process will begin and might take time so make sure there’s no power cut or low battery.
Step 14: The computer will restart several times, which is normal in installation processes.
Once the installation is complete the Windows 11 screen will appear before the final reboot.
Out of the two methods, the first one is highly recommended i.e. editing the registry since this method works perfectly despite being a bit tricky. But in case the first method does not work well, you can try installing with the second method.
Don’t forget to follow the steps diligently to avoid messing up the process. Any step failure could lead to your computer not working at all and such situations could take a long time to get fixed.
